TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE EVENTCentennial Parklands is situated less than five kilometres from Sydney's central business district - and just a few minutes from the city's popular eastern beaches. It is easy to get to the Parklands by bus, train, car, bike or on foot. Help us to conserve the Parklands and the wider environment by using public transport wherever possible when coming to the parks. For details of transport options, go to http://www.centennialparklands.com.au/about/visitor_info/travel_transport PARKINGIf you are coming by car, there will be parking close to the Check-In area, along Grand Drive. REGISTRATION FEESRegistration fees are $25 Adults $18 Children (under 16) $75 Family (2 adults and 2 children) Children under 5 are free. Walkers will receive a Walk4Life Cap, bottle of Coastal Springs Water, Sponsorship Lap card, BBQ sausage. WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE EVENTGo directly to the Cure for Life Pre-Registration or Registration tent and pick-up your Walker’s Kit of a Walk4Life cap, bottle of water and Sponsorship Lap card. Then go to start area and wait for Walker’s Warm-Up Session prior to the start of the walk at approximately 9am. AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR WALKGo back to the Cure for Life Registration Ten to collect your participants’ certificate, sausage sizzle and then relax under the trees till the presentations are made at approximately 11.15am. PRESENTATION CEREMONYAt 11.15am prizes will be announced for the most laps completed and the highest sponsorship achieved. Walkers who would like to enter the draw for the highest sponsorship are asked to bring along a copy of their Sponsorship Sheet or a copy of their online “Hero Page” showing the total amount raised. Wet WeatherAll registered walkers will be notified by SMS message in the event that the walk is cancelled due to wet weather conditions. Otherwise please refer to our website. FIRST AID STATIONThere will be a first aid station located adjacent to the Walk Check-In area. Please ask any of the volunteers or Cure for Life staff, who can be identified by their Cure for Life Foundation Black Polo Shirts and ID badges, for directions to the first aid station. MEDICAL EMERGENCYIf you see a walker in severe difficulty or you experience difficulty yourself, please ask your fellow walkers to assist by contacting the nearest volunteer or Cure for Life staff member, who can be identified by their Cure for Life Foundation Black Polo Shirts and ID badges, and they in turn will contact the first aid station. TOILETSThere are 2 toilet blocks located close to the walk route. WATEROn arrival at the Walk for Life Check-in Area, walkers will collect a water bottle in their kits. Please recycle or dispose of the drink bottle carefully. FOOD AND DRINKSThere is a kiosk at Centennial Park located close to the walking track where you can buy food and drinks before the walk start and during the event. We will also be supplying all walkers with a “sausage sizzle” and soft drink after they have finished walking from around 10am. STORAGE OF WALKER’S ITEMSThere will be NO provision for storing any items brought onto the event site by walkers. Please bring your own backpack to carry personal items and warm clothing. Cure for Life Foundation takes no responsibility for lost items. DOGSDogs are allowed on the track as long as they are “on-leash” at all times and all “droppings” are removed from the track. BICYCLES, SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLERBLADESFor safety reasons, bicycles, skateboards and rollerblades are not permitted along the walk route. RUNNERSThis event is for walkers only. NON-WALKERSWalker’s friends and families can BYO picnic chairs and enjoy relaxing in the parklands.
